‘Friends of Jan Jan Bureh Nursery’, is a charity  which solely supports Jan Jan Bureh Nursery in The Gambia. The Nursery opened in 2008 as a collaboration with the ex-head teacher of the local primary school, Tida Manka, and teachers from Hagley Primary School, here in England. The charity provides salaries each year for the teachers, as well as a caretaker and the school cooks, subsequently providing jobs for locals. Any money over and above the cost of salaries  is spent on equipment to support the learning of the young children. This includes reading books, registers, sun canopies, toys, and uniforms.
